Values Based Financial Planner and CEO of Playfair Planning Services

Kim Bourne is the owner of a boutique financial services firm that is dedicated to ensuring that every financial decision that her clients make will be completely aligned with their most important goals and their most deeply held values. Kim recognized long ago that many Americans are not well served by financial advisors for three reasons:

• Few Americans have written blueprints that outline both accumulation and distribution phases for their most important goals.

• Few Americans have an advisor that assembles and leads a team of best in class subject matter experts in each financial discipline so that they are highly confident that all advice is properly vetted and implemented with their best interest at heart.

• Even fewer Americans have advisors that hold them and the financial professionals that serve them accountable to doing what is necessary to achieve their goals.

With these three challenges in mind, Kim established a unique turn-key business model which serves family-oriented professionals – residents of the five boroughs and surrounding suburbs. Kim enhances the quality of her clients’ lives because they delegate the responsibility of keeping their financial houses in perfect order to her. They in turn can focus on doing the things that they cannot delegate like improving their physical health, deepening their inner connections, strengthening their relationships and advancing their careers.

At Playfair Planning Services, with offices in the heart of Canarsie Brooklyn and Midtown Manhattan, Kim advises financially independent women, successful entrepreneurs and young professionals – New York natives and recent arrivals. She listens not only to understand their financial goals, but also their goals for life. Many of Kim’s clients have become good friends. People like coming to her office; they trust her judgment and expertise, and the way she does business by the Platinum Rule. Kim realizes that time is valuable, and her planning makes the most of it. Many of her clients are her friends: goal-oriented, starting to think about retirement, devoted to their families and communities as well as their careers.

As a primary financial advisor, Kim’s role in her clients’ lives is much like that of a primary care physician – except her specialty is money. She communicates with other trusted advisors – fellow CPAs, insurance agents, attorneys – so that everybody’s kept in the loop when it comes to financial developments. In the financial world, Kim is a rare gem – practicing what she knows to be effective and life-affirming. She strongly believes that comprehensive planning and continued support is crucial to our well-being. She also believes that effective leaders empower women. She dedicates a portion of her practice to The Playfair Planning Services Women’s Advisory Council for the purpose of inspiring, educating and providing female leaders with a forum to grow personally and professionally. She has written many articles and speaks at colleges, universities and organizations around the country including The Parents League of New York, Clear Channel Network and, The National Medical Association.

Kim is also a wife and mother of three children. A swimmer and tennis player, Kim enjoys any place that has a good beach, and when she travels, it’s often to a beachfront destination with good books in tow. She is a passionate volunteer for the Girl and Boy Scout Councils of Greater NY and The Board Secretary for The Brooklyn Heights Montessori School. Kim lives a blended life, and helps her clients do the same through her career.
